Experience, importance of from Family Posts

"THE ONLY TRUE LEARNING IS PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE, AND THEREFORE EVERYTHING YOU DO MUST BE IN THE CONTEXT OF THE PRESENT MOMENT."

What time is it? – Now!! LOL This last week I (re)watched the movie - The Peaceful Warrior, which illustrates this aphorism graphically for me. :-)

The reason for this was that I was having a conflict with IG, and she had also re-visited this movie again after I had challenged her quite “forcefully” about using the past as a means for self punishment (instead of for learning), and I shared with her that if she didn’t see a way past this, then I didn’t want to force her to continue having a relationship with me, where she was projecting this behaviour at me, and that it would better for us end our relationship where it was.

This then brought both of us to some unpleasant truths and options, and consequently led to IG dropping her rationalisation and reconnecting with her self and her potential. :-)

I, in turn was clear of the need to be present in the moment, so I paid attention when IG shared where she had gotten to, and we then discussed how we can shift the focus going forward to see how we can start building the trust between us.

Something else that stood out for me this morning, which I relate to where I am at in terms of anchoring (as well as to provide direction), was when I saw a message from a colleague that had to do with other people’s perception of what we do in a “work” capacity, and I realised that the experience gained from our years of working with the medical technology that we work with has been invaluable in relating this back to my self development, and while I might continue to doubt and undermine myself as a result of my past and my social conditioning in certain instances, I can not doubt the knowledge gained from these (our) experiences. :-)
