“WITHOUT A FLUIDITY OF PERCEPTION THE ONLY PERSONAL POWER YOU CAN GAIN IS THAT TINY BIT OF POWER PRESCRIBED BY THE LIMITATIONS OF YOUR VIEW OF THE WORLD. YET IN ORDER TO GAIN A FLUIDITY OF PERCEPTION YOU MUST FIRST CLAIM THE POWER THAT IS WITHIN YOUR GRASP. WITHOUT POWER YOU CANNOT HUNT POWER

The only way in which you can do this, is to have a level of honesty that can only come into being through an unequivocal willingness to be fully inclusive. Without that inclusiveness you will not be honest with yourself, and instead you will want to fool yourself into trying to own characteristics you do not have, and pretending to be someone you are not.”

This Thursday afternoon I was invited to join a singing circle of a local community, where some of the members of this community I am developing relationships, and as part of this process I am participating in some of their activities in an effort to get to know them better to assist me in being able to relate to them.

The singing process involves chanting to various Indian deities, asking for blessings as well as saying a few mantras.

At first I was quite resistant to the idea, the concept and the process, but as things I unfolded I realized that this resistance had to do more with my perception around my ability to sing, or in other words that I see myself as inept and awkward when it comes to singing. :-)

The lady that was leading the group handed out a some seed shakers to accompany the singing, with me being one of the recipients. “Oh my! what does a person do when you have to concentrate on singing in tune, and now I have to also figure out how to shake the shaker in rhythm as well” LOL

I realised that I had to detach and allow things to flow, and no matter how good or bad I thought it was going, this was practice and that I unless I allowed myself to have the experience and make miss-takes I was never going to learn from this. :-) From there I was able to relax, and even managed to experiment a little mixing up my shaking routine. :-)

I have a point of departure from the experience where I have lots to explore regarding my singing abilities, and from the Mantras I also realized that these can be used as affirmations to set my intent if required.
